Interesting Facts
Italy has a climate that is hot and sunny in the summer and harsh in the winter, when fog envelops the plains and can snow on the hills. It is an incredibly fertile land that gives birth to world-famous varieties of Parmigiano Reggiano, Parma ham, Culatello, Salame, Mortadella, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, historic and famous dishes such as tortellini in bouillon, cappelletti, lasagna and Bolognese, tagliatelle and, obviously, the inevitable Lambrusco . Lambrusco has always been in Emilia, so much so that its first traces go back to antiquity. It is in every way a local vine, that is, a vine that was born and grew in a certain area. The grapevine that makes red or rosé wine, fizzy and dry . But the characteristics and beauty of Lambrusco in our territory do not end there. Lambrusco is a grapevine with many, about 15, varieties in it. Each variety has its own distinctive characteristics. Today, the following varieties are grown in the various estates of the Medici Ermete: Lambrusco Salamino, Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco di Sorbara, Lambrusco Marani and Ancellotta (the Reggiano grape, which is not part of the Lambrusco family, but with which it is closely related). That is why we welcome you to Emilia Romagna, one of the most prosperous regions of Europe, recognized in the world as the queen of the table, where unsurpassed culinary and wine reigns. The company owns about 80 hectares of plots cultivated entirely organically. The 80 hectares are divided into 5 estates in the areas most suitable for Lambrusco production: 4 estates in Reggio Emilia and 1 estate in Modena. The high plains and foothills of Emilia are particularly suitable for grape growing due to the microclimate and the characteristics of the clay soil. It is in Reggio Emilia at the Medici Ermete winery that one of the best farms is located: Tenuta La Rampata, where the Lambrusco concert is produced. In Modena, the last estate purchased, Lambrusco di Sorbara Phermento is produced. The Medici Ermete winery is located in Hyde, on the Via Emilia, a few kilometers from the vineyards. Respecting an area that maintains a connection with a rich gastronomic and wine tradition, the Medici family works enthusiastically to ensure a more precise selection of grapes and a constant upgrading of processing techniques.
